This milestone session broke me out of the way-too-hot Texas summer rut and completely fed my creative soul. When Grandma reached out and asked me to capture her grandson for his 5th birthday, I was ecstatic. The last time I saw him was at his one-year cake smash, so being able to see how much he had grown, and to celebrate this big milestone, felt extra special.
She told me she wanted to incorporate two of his favorite things: the lake and his dog. And of course, I was all in!
We started with a few traditional portraits, giving us a chance to get reacquainted. Then we jumped straight into the fun (literally). Bare feet, pebbles on the shore, golden curls bouncing in the evening light, and a very excited, very wet pup by his side…it was the perfect recipe for an unforgettable evening.
Before long, Gus and his dog were in the water up to their necks, splashing, chasing, and running in and out of the lake with pure joy. Watching them was magic. We couldn’t stop smiling, laughing, and soaking in those carefree childhood moments.
And that’s what milestone sessions are all about…not just documenting another year, but truly capturing who your child is right now, what they love, and how they live their days. These are the memories that become treasures.
There’s no time like the present to freeze this chapter of your story, so you can hold onto it today, tomorrow, and always.
